Happy Holidays from
Finders Keepers!
The Finders Keepers annual Holiday
Party
will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 16th, at
Sandy's home. Dress casual or dress up, it's up to you!
No alcohol please.
Each family should bring a covered dish. Each person
attending should bring a wrapped, unisex gift costing no more than five dollars
for a gift exchange.
Helene is coordinating the guest
list and menu. Please send her an email
or give her a call and let her know how many will be attending and the covered dish you will be
bringing.
The subject of adoption was in the news again. November was National
Adoption Month, and to mark the occasion, the Philadelphia
Inquirer published essays from adoptees and birthmothers in their
Community Voices section. Finders Keepers member Michele Houston's essay
entitled Respect
Adoptees' Need for Knowledge appeared in the Sunday, November
26th,edition.
We've had some encouraging news on the legislative front.
Delaware state Senator
Dori Connor (R) has indicated that she's going to work on the changes we
proposed to the Delaware law (eliminate the birthparent veto and allow
grandparents and siblings to search). Please write
or call Senator Connor and let her know that you appreciate her support and
efforts.
There are new tallies for Delaware-born adoptees who have
requested their original birth certificates. Since January 1999, there
have been 345 requests. Of those requests, 318 have been issued, 18 are
pending and 9 have been denied.
Due to the Holiday Party, there is no Search and Support meeting scheduled for
the month of December. If anyone requires support or assistance, please
contact Ginger and we'll arrange a
private chat. Please plan to attend the next Search and
Support Meeting 7:30 p.m., Monday, January 8th, at Sandy's home.
The next General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 27th at the Bear
Public Library in Room 1. Due to scheduling conflicts, the General Meeting has been
permanently changed from the last Thursday of the the month, to
the last Wednesday of the month. Following the meeting, everyone is
invited to Bob Evan's restaurant for some good food and friendly conversation.
Make sure to check out our holiday fundraiser.

gold and comes in a lovely gift box. If you have kids who are looking for
a small way to say "Happy Holidays" to their teachers, it's an
economic way to purchase three gifts at once!
